« on: November 02, 2010, 09:56:38 PM »
A musical project between Russia and Sweden is starting in St. Petersburg.

16 -17 November at the scene of the State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg and in the concert hall of the Mariinsky Theatre begins tour of the Swedish Wind Orchestra. As stated at a press conference in St. Petersburg, Sergei Roldugin , artistic director of the St. Petersburg House of Music, a similar project between our two countries will be the first time. The current tour was preceded by only Scandinavian music festivals in St. Petersburg. "Sweden has a great musical tradition, and the cooperation of this kind is of interest to both countries." St. Petersburg will be able to attend the world premiere of the composer, director of the Swedish Wind Orchestra Frederick Estrelinga "Songs of Ecstasy, which will take place on the stage of Capella. The composer said that "it is not just the individual concerts, but the beginning of a big musical project between Sweden and Russia."
Anticipated that the project will last during at least 2011 - 2013 years. The plans - touring musicians of both countries, as well as the embodiment of some completely new music ideas.

Sounds very interesting, I have never heard of Frederick Estrelinga and "Songs of Ecstasy," so I hope it is a nice concert and brings good thoughts in the cold dark of Winter!
