September 4-9: International Military Music Festival

Moscow’s Red Square will play host to the Heads of State and military bands during their Annual International Military Music Festival from September 4th – 9th.  Military bands from Russia, Britain, China, Israel, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Finland and France are scheduled to perform, as well as a charity concert held on featuring several international stars.

Not only will the festival be an exhibition of the finest military bands in the world, individually as well as a performance by a joint band formed by all participating countries; there will also be several unexpected surprises, such as the unique combination of Russian folk songs and tunes by the Beatles, a video presentation projected upon the wall of the Kremlin, historic presentations, fireworks, dance exhibitions and more! 

The program in 2009 year was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the victory of Russian troops in the Battle of Poltava.  Not only will the festival be an entertaining and educational display of music and Russian history, but also promises to be a hub of cultural exchange and understanding between all participating countries.

About the Festival "Spasskaya Tower - 2010"

The Public Council and the Direction of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” are pleased to inform you that the next International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” will take place in Red Square of Moscow from 4 to 9 September 2010. The traditional participants of the Festival are the units of the State Honour Guards and the leading Russian and foreign military music bands.

In accordance with the tradition the opening of the Festival in 2010 will be held within the framework of the Days of the City of Moscow. Daily Festival audience only in Red Square exceeds 7 000 people, and the whole Festival audience is expected to be over 35 000 people (over 100 million people if Internet and TV viewers are taken into account).

Festival events and shows traditionally receive extensive Russian and foreign media coverage. In 2009 26 news agencies, 33 TV-channels, 62 print media, 12 radio stations were accredited in the Festival press center. The central TV channels of France, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Hungary, China, Korea, Kazakhstan, New Zealand and Australia paid attention to the Festival events, and such TV-channels as Euro News, Associated Press, Russia Today, Mir showed the programs dedicated to the Festival almost all over the world. In some foreign countries the Festival shows were fully transmitted on TV.

According to Russian and foreign mass media, guests, participants and spectators the Festival is one of the most impressive and considerable events of the cultural life of Moscow.
