Red Square Can be closed but for a purpose.

Red Square was closed on August 28, 2010.

On Saturday, 28 August, the Red Square was closed to the public from 10 am to 16 pm, and admission of visitors to the Lenin Mausoleum and the Kremlin Wall Necropolis will not start.
According to Interfax Center for Relations with the press and the public by the Federal Security Service of Russia, these measures were prompted by the need to prepare the area for the [b]International Military Music Festival "Spassky Tower - 2010[/b]. In this regard, the ceremony on horse and foot guards of the Presidential Regiment was held Aug. 28 at the Cathedral Square of the Kremlin at 14:00.
In the days of preparation and holding of the festival - [b]from 3 to 9 September 2010[/b] - Red Square will be open for free visits to 15:00. From that time until the end of the event program access to the main area of the country will be opened with tickets to the festival.
