Falling ice a hazard in winter
« on: March 24, 2010, 09:19:10 PM »
Falling ice a hazard in winter. Often ice will form, melt and fall off.
City crews are constantly clearing ice from the roofs during winter for safety, but still be wary.
Long icicles hanging down often represent more ice on top. Falling ice and snow can be deadly.
Notice where the water drips from the roofs and try not to walk along that line. A falling icicle is like a dagger falling to earth.
The same goes for parking cars, leave a car long enough under the eave of a roof and it will get some ice on it. It pays to look up after parking and make sure a block of ice is not poised above you.
