In the statement, the singer Madonna, to be held August 2 2009 at the Palace Square St. Petersburg, Russia must be no blasphemous, said director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky.
One of the original singer of rooms - this is the appearance of crucifixes on a large mirror in the cross-time ballad Live To Tell. When she just started showing the same number, the Vatican did not approve of «innovation». The Russian Orthodox Church called blasphemous and an insult to Christianity, this number during the performance of Madonna in Moscow two years ago.

«We wish to ensure that no blasphemy on the Palace Square will not be there. And although it can be called «a violation of freedom of speech», but we at the Palace is an angel with a cross », - said Piotrovsky.

But he added that in his view, the concert of Madonna have to be held somewhere else but on the Palace Square.

Director of the museum also recalled that, for such large-scale concerts at the Palace Square you have to enter into a contract in which one of the main points is to determine the maximum allowable power of sound.

According to him, it is recorded during rehearsals and at the concert.  «This is a hard thing», - said Piotrovsky, recalling that it was in the Rolling Stones concert and other concerts in the Palace square of St. Petersburg, said «Газета.Ru».

So, how was the concert? Was there blasphemy? Was it held in the palace square? Were there lot of people? Here it was absolutely massive with 80 000 people cramming to one Helsinki island.

Hi Laurentius,
actually, it is really a ridiculous situation with all concerts on the Palace square.
People buy tickets to go inside the fenced area on the square to stand there for some hours like a 'fish in a can' so close to each other. Police and OMON outside the fence doesn't allow anybody else even to stop by for a moment even if you are in the car just passing by.
Of course ou can listen to the music from the park area or some where where police can not see you or they will ask you politely to move away.
It was pouring rain and people were ander umbrellas trying to see through.
The music wasn't bad.
Madonna's music!
