 The Russian government has offered to increase the fines for drinking alcohol in public places, the relevant amendments to the Administrative Code, introduced on Friday by the State Duma. That beer could cost you a fine of $200!

 The bill provides that "having alcohol  or alcohol products that have content of alcohol of more than 12 per cent of the finished product on the streets, stadiums, squares, parks, public transport vehicles, other public places, except for organizations of trade and public catering, which permitted the sale of alcoholic products in the filling - involves the imposition of an administrative fine from 1 to 5 thousand rubles (about $200)".

The current edition of the Administrative Code proposes fine for drinking alcohol in public at 300-500 rubles
