Miss Atom: A beauty contest for female nuclear physicists?
Russia's nuclear industry is trying to change the image of women in science by staging  the annual Miss Atom Beauty Contest.
The contest is only for women who work in nuclear jobs. The Web site explains, "Miss Atom is the first and only industry-wide, Web-based project for nuclear belles."
The goal of the competition: To show that smart women working with hazardous materials look pretty good when they're not wearing chemical protection suits.
You can judge for yourself:

Before the Soviet times, Russia had many pretty girls. Ahhh, those were the days to tickle a man's heart.  In the Soviet era there was really a sense of true romantic love. And it was nice, but women, at least officially, were not expected to dress in a way to show their feminine side. Soviet art shows the strong worker woman building the greatest nation on earth. Dressed in worker clothes and with limbs truly like tree trunks! Well, in 1990 that all changed as I understand. Wish I was around to see it now and compare to the old days. Miss Atom! Who could have imagined that? | Forum
