The Wise Fisherman
The rain was pouring down. And there standing in front of a big puddle outside the bar, was an old man, drenched, holding a stick with a piece of string dangling in the water.
A passer-by stopped and asked, "What are you doing?"
"Fishing, replied the old man.
Feeling sorry for the old man, the gent said, "Come in out of the rain and have a drink with me."
In the warmth of the pub, as they sip their vodka, the gentleman cannot resist asking, "So how many have you caught today?"
"You're the eighth" said the old man.

We are always watching for historical items, especially from Sennaya Ploschad.

Here is a view of Sennaya Square Hay Market from about 1860 showing far fewer buildings than in 1900.

Currently the Orthodox Cathedral location is replaced by the Sennaya Ploschad Metro entrance and there is only a small orthodox temple off to the left erected in the early 2000s.

Shows are happening all the time for theatre and ballet.
A great way to practice Russian is to listen to the words and see the translations while the Soviet animation stars Cheburashka and Gena share their adventures.

A favorite in Russia since Soviet times, Cheburashak has also become quite popular in Japan in the past 10 years.

The Alexandrinsky Theater is beautiful isn't it. Those pics are wonderful. Very high ceilings, I would love to visit one day. Does it get used as a theater very much?
