Russia's first museum of lace will be opened in Vologda on November 3, 2010. Consultant of the Regional Tourist Board Elena Seregodskaya told RIA Novosti that Russia has no more of such museums.
 Vologda has been and remains a recognized center for lace-making - the capital of Russian lace.  In the vicinity of the Vologda Kremlin walls in a historic former bank building the exhibition will be located, entirely dedicated to traditional folk craft of the Vologda region - the art of lace.
 The main exhibition of the museum will be located on the second floor. The eight halls and the main gallery, which represents the most significant lace works: tablecloth Elfinoy "Snowflake", the curtain Veselova "Peaceful Moscow, drape Isakova" Roosters" and the other lace. Compositionally exhibition built in chronological order. In the first room - exhibits from European lace centers - Germany, France, Poland, Slovakia and Spain. There's also an exhibition devoted to the era of origin of art of lace - XVII-XVIII centuries.
 On the creation of the museum worked a great team of professionals - builders, restorers, museum professionals, artists, and installers for installation of exhibition equipment.

 For visitors the exhibition will be open on November 5 th 2010.

Russia's first museum of lace opened in Vologda. There is 1500 square meters of unique exhibits.
 The event in Vologda was attended by  representatives of the Ministry of Culture and more than ten consuls of foreign countries in St. Petersburg, among them - Consul of Angola and Peru. The idea of opening the lace museum belongs to the Vologda governor. It was supported by President Medvedev. A former chairman of the Central Bank of Russia Gerashchenko responded to a personal request of Vyacheslav Pozgalyov and gave previously owned by his office building in the Kremlin area. The building is 18 th century, took almost 300 million rubles on the repair and restoration works. They were from budget of the region.  The federal budget also participated but with more modest sum - 50 million to build the exposition.
 In addition to the exhibition, there is a museum shop, cafe and a creative workshop.  The first visitors to the museum of lace can arrive on November 5.
