Post by: Mariria on August 26, 2010, 03:37:36 PM
Today notes 130 years Anniversary of Alexander Grin. It is the writer of a nice novel "Scarlet Sails".

130 years ago was born author of "Scarlet sails" Alexander Green.

His first story "The merit of ordinary Pantelyeev" was arrested in the printing and completely burned, while the author was serving a sentence for revolutionary propaganda and desertion. As a member of the party SR, Alexander Grin wandered from one link to another. Because of constant conflict with the authorities Grin lived in Finland until the February Revolution. On his return he was drafted into the Red Army, where he served as a signaler. There he got seriously ill with typhus and returned to St. Petersburg. In the period from 1920 to 1932, wrote his best works, including the famous novel "The Scarlet Sails".

The pseudonym name of A. Grin (real name - Alexander Stefanovich Grinevsky) first appeared under the story "The Case" (1907). In 1908 he published the first book, "The Cap of Invisibility." Because many of the alias first readers of his stories were thinking that they read foreign author in translation.

I hope that St. Petersburg's authorities will note A. Grin's Birthday in a better way next time.
